How to Remove Press-On Nails Without Damage

Removing press-on nails the wrong way can leave your natural nails thin, weak, or peeling. But when done correctly, your nails should look just as healthy after removal as they did before application.

Here's the safe removal method we recommend at SHEZAIR.

What Not to Do

Don't pry or pull them off. Forcing press-ons off damages the top layer of your natural nail. The result is white spots, peeling, and weak nails that take months to grow out.

Don't use metal tools. Metal cuticle pushers are too sharp and can gouge your nail plate.

The Safe Removal Method

Step 1: File Down the Top Layer

Use a regular nail file to gently buff the top coat of the press-on nail. This helps the remover penetrate the adhesive underneath. Stop when you see the adhesive layer - you don't need to file all the way through.

Step 2: Soak in Warm Soapy Water

Fill a bowl with warm water and a few drops of gentle soap. Soak your nails for 10-15 minutes. This softens the glue and adhesive tabs.

You'll feel the press-ons start to loosen naturally around the edges.

Step 3: Gently Lift from the Side

Once the glue has softened, use a wooden cuticle stick to gently lift from the side of the nail. Work slowly - don't force it. If the nail doesn't lift easily, soak for another 5 minutes.

How to Reuse Your Press-Ons

If you want to reuse your SHEZAIR nails, peel off any remaining adhesive from the back of the nail. Clean them with a lint-free wipe soaked in rubbing alcohol. Store them in the original case to keep the 3D details safe.

Post-Removal Care

After removing, wash your hands and apply cuticle oil. Your natural nails may feel slightly sensitive - this is normal and will resolve within a day. Wait at least 24 hours before applying a new set.
